Push for show’s return

Monday 16th November 2009, 1:57PM GMT.

Hopes have been raised for the future of the West Mid Show with bids being made for a new event.

The West Mid Show Society, which runs the event in Shrewsbury, has been placed into voluntary liquidation after more than 120 years.

It is understood it owes up to £160,000 to about 50 creditors, with claims ranging from a few pounds to £25,000.

The show trustees voted to bring in an insolvency specialist, but now moves are being made to look at whether the event could return in some form.

A creditors’ meeting is still scheduled to take place next month.
