Shrewsbury 1 Torquay 1
Sunday 15th November 2009, 8:37AM GMT.
A late Dave Hibbert equaliser rescued a point for Shrewsbury Town against 10-man Torquay United.
The game seemed to have turned in the hosts’ favour when Torquay centre-back Kieran Charnock was sent off on 54 minutes for a studs up challenge on Dean Holden.
But Shrewsbury failed to make their extra man count and were shocked when the Gulls took the lead on 76 minutes, Wayne Carlisle setting up Chris Hargreaves, whose shot took a big deflection to deceive keeper Chris Neal.
Town responded well and thought they were level just moments later, but Graham Coughlan’s header from Steve Leslie’s corner rebounded off the inside of the post and into grateful keeper Michael Poke’s arms.
But Hibbert then popped up nine minutes from time to lash home from 10 yards. Substitute Kris Bright and Hibbert again had chances to win it for Town, but they had to settle for the draw.
