Restaurant’s pledge in girl’s memory

A restaurant has pledged to donate £1 for every meal they sell throughout November and December to a foundation in memory of a Shropshire teenager.
Dino’s restaurant in Hotel Roma on Lower Bridge Street, Chester, has made the pledge in memory of 16-year-old Charlotte Hartey, who died in July after being diagnosed over the telephone with swine flu, when she had tonsillitis.
The Charlotte Hartey Foundation was launched by her family to raise funds in her memory for local good causes.
It is also spreading awareness of their campaign calling for a halt to over-the-phone medical diagnosis.
The restaurant’s owner, Dino Paulmbo, said: “The Hartey family have been our customers for nearly 20 years. Charlotte’s smiling face will be greatly missed. The foundation is a great cause that will benefit the people in our area, we feel it is our responsibility as a local company and as members of the community to support this worthy cause in Charlotte’s memory.”
Charlotte’s dad, Karl Hartey, of Weston Rhyn, near Oswestry, said: “We are delighted that such a popular restaurant is willing to help us raise money in Charlotte’s memory.”
Christine Evans, whose husband works with Mr Hartey, decided to run the Windsor Half Marathon in the teenager’s memory and raised £230. A charity football match was also held recently at Oswestry School, where Charlotte was a pupil.
