Police sorry for car theft

Police have apologised to a Telford man after officers found his stolen car – only to let thieves steal it from under their noses.

Acting Chief Inspector Richard Langton, head of operations at Telford police, contacted Martin Deam yesterday to say sorry.

Mr Deam, 40, had his Honda Civic stolen from outside his home in Sutton Hill early last Saturday. When police told him they had found it he wanted to collect it but was told it was needed for tests. The car was stolen again and is still missing.
