Lights on for cricket

Friday 6th November 2009, 6:00PM GMT.

cricket-ball3Floodlit cricket comes to Shropshire tomorrow – for what is believed to be the first time.

A special challenge match will be held at The Venue in Park Hall, Oswestry, the home ground of TNS Football Club, between the home town’s under 15 team and their Shrewsbury counterparts.

“The game will be played on the astro-turf there and it is very much a trial fixture,” said Dave Vart, junior organiser at Oswestry.

“If it’s successful, then we can look to stage other games in the future.”

The game, which will be a eight-a-side 15 over-per-team game, will get underway at 6.30pm.

And Vart added: “We are going to go for it whatever the weather.”
