Hold-ups after car overturns
Friday 6th November 2009, 10:26AM GMT.
A driver had a lucky escape when his car overturned at a busy junction in Telford today, causing rush-hour chaos.
Police closed the northbound A442 Eastern Primary at the Stirchley interchange following the crash at 7.55am.
A tailback some three miles long built up.
The northbound dual carriageway remained closed for around two hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Inspector Tanya Becket, of West Mercia Police, said only one vehicle was involved in the accident.
The male driver was the sole occupant of the car.
She said: “The car overturned on the Eastern Primary sliproad but how that happened we don’t know at the moment.”
She said the driver of the car was not thought to have been seriously injured.
Suzie Fothergill, West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman, added: “We had a call at 7.55am from someone who must have been on the opposite carriageway.
“They called to say a car had overturned and ended up on its roof.”
