Stavros Flatley to switch on lights
Thursday 5th November 2009, 9:58AM GMT.
Greek dancing double act Stavros Flatley will switch on the Christmas lights in Telford this month.
The father and son duo, who were third on hit TV show Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year, will perform their renowned routine before flicking the switch at Telford Shopping Centre on November 26.
Tracy Hadley, marketing manager at Telford Shopping Centre, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have secured Stavros Flatley to launch our festivities in style this year. They are a phenomenally popular act and I am sure they will go down a storm with our shoppers.”
Stavros Flatley will be joined for the switch on by a number of special guests including Father Christmas, who will be parading the centre before opening his grotto in Sherwood Square.
The entertainment will start at 4pm and parking is free from 5pm, with the centre open for late night shopping until 8pm.

Wow I can hardly wait, not.
What is the point in having christmas lights inside that awful shopping centre anyway? I thought they were supposed to add interest to dark early evening shopping streets.

Well done Telford for the start of christmas goodwill

No expense spared there then. I’m sure the crowds will be flocking to see them.

So Telford Town Centre, itself barely able to organise any entertainment in that “square” without people getting crushed from the stampede (Same Difference?), announces an act that will pull in loads of additional (mainly) young people, at a time of year when the centre will be heaving with people doing christmas shopping…..
Top marks for whoever thought that one out!

Couldn’t they get Kate & Gin and support local talent? Very poor, Telford Town Centre.

Hark all the killjoy’s. I hear the role of scrooge is still up for grabs at Shrewsbury panto.

Wow! Amazing! Just when you expect them to have to fight the usual desperate Z-listers off they go and find someone actually from off the alphabet!!

What a coup!
Someone that didn’t win a talent contest! It will go down well with the Telford chavs though!

Much better than watching Eric Smith hosting carols in the square every year.

I would have taken my five year old to see Santa arrive in the centre, but I refuse to put her in a situation where there will be too many people in such a small area. Don’t get me wrong, we really like Stavros Flatley too, but the same thing happens every time some special guests arrive. I’m sure many parents won’t take their children to see Santa arrive now, which is a real shame, and surely the whole point of the evening!! Oh, and by the way, I’m not a chav lol.

I’m not a chav, either.
