New offices for authority

Thursday 5th November 2009, 8:34AM GMT.

Welshpool Town Council offices have moved to a new more spacious location.

The clerk’s office in Broad Street closed last week and has moved to Triangle House, Union Street, next to the town’s library.

Robert Robinson, council clerk, said the new offices, which opened on Monday, would provide a lot more space.

He said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during this move and hope residents take note that we have moved.

“The new offices provide more spacious accommodation and we even have a welcoming area for our visitors, which we didn’t have before

“They are situated in an ideal location and I think they are a lot more visitor-friendly and accessible.”

He said that opening hours were between 9am and 2.30pm Monday to Friday or other times by appointment only.

“The move has also provided us with the perfect opportunity to have a good sort out,” he said.

“We look forward to welcoming people and hope they will be as happy with the move as we are.”

Councillor Ann Holloway, mayor of Welshpool, welcomed the move.

She said: “It’s wonderful that the council will be able to provide a more welcoming service to its visitors in a much more spacious location.”
