Midfield powerhouse Joss Labadie has been given the thumbs-up to play in Shrewsbury Town’s first FA Cup tie at the Prostar Stadium on Saturday.

Labadie is the only member of Town’s loan triumvirate who have been handed permission to line-up against Blue Square South outfit Staines.

Winger Jamie Devitt and striker Waide Fairhurst, from Hull and Doncaster respectively, have both been ruled out because their parent clubs don’t want them Cup-tied.

But there are no such problems with Labadie, with Championship side West Bromwich Albion happy for the 19-year-old to be included in Paul Simpson’s plans.

Labadie will now be hoping to force his way back into the starting line-up after being relegated to the bench for the last two matches.

Manager Simpson faces disruption to his starting line-up and must make at least four changes with Devitt and Fairhurst unavailable, Dean Holden suspended and the loan spell of goalkeeper Steve Phillips now at an end.

Meanwhile, Staines boss Steve Cordery believes everything must drop into place for his side to become FA Cup giantkillers on Saturday.

Staines are currently10th in Blue Square South, although have won five of their last six matches in all competitions.

But Cordery – whose full-time job is as a greenkeeper at the exclusive Burhill Golf Club in Surrey which regular attracts leading professionals Paul Casey and Retief Goosen – is philosophical over his side’s chances as they attempt to bridge a two-division gap.

“We will give it a right go and we know that all of our lads must be on top of their game,” said Cordery, who has always played and managed at non-League level.

“But even then we are going to need Shrewsbury to have a bit of an off day.

“We are just pleased to get a League club. That’s all you ask for when you get to this stage and, while it would have been nice to get a Leeds away, we are delighted with the draw.”

Staines will prepare for the game with an overnight stay in Shropshire tomorrow night.
