Hospital threat lifted — for now

Health bosses in Telford & Wrekin today lifted the threat of some hospital services being transferred from Telford to Shrewsbury — at least for the time being.

The board of NHS Telford & Wrekin Primary Care Trust agreed that a county-wide network of vascular surgeons should be developed to work across both Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

It had originally been proposed that vascular services should be consolidated at Shrewsbury under an “immediate” plan, triggering fears that the Telford hospital would be downgraded and lose other vital services too.
