Meet county’s biggest Jackson fan

Pauline Fraser with a small sample of her Michael Jackson memorabilia
The new Michael Jackson movie only got its public premiere yesterday lunchtime – but Shropshire superfan Pauline Fraser has already seen it twice!
The beauty consultant, who comes from Brookside in Telford, was crowned the winner of a competition run by the town’s Odeon cinema to find the county’s biggest fan of the late King of Pop.
And after claiming her prize – a seat at the county premiere of This Is It, showing behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage of what would have been his final concert – she hot-footed it over to Birmingham to see it all over again at the Star City complex.
The footage, originally intended for Jackson’s private library, has been released to show fans how the star had planned to dazzle them during his 50-date residency at the O2 in London, if he had lived long enough to perform.
Pauline, who describes herself as “about the same age as Michael Jackson”, said: “I’ve been a huge fan for pretty much all my life, since the days of the Jackson Five.
“I’ve seen him live in concert 10 times, including the UK, Paris, Tenerife and Las Vegas, and his death was tragic. There is simply no-one else in the world of music who has ever come close to him.
“The film is absolutely fantastic — better than I ever thought it would be. He comes across as someone who seemed really happy. He looked well, really fit, and his voice was so sharp. He was clearly planning to put on a really energetic show.”
Pauline has amassed a huge collection of Michael Jackson memorabilia over the years. She once owned an original trilby hat which the King of Pop wore for a performance and has an authentic Michael Jackson mask among her current collection.
Pauline also admitted to having created a “tomb” in her back garden this summer to mark the star’s death, and revealed she flew a flag, and played dawn-to-dusk Jackson music, on the star’s birthday each year.
The film was also voted a big hit by the runner-up of the Odeon competition, eight-year-old Mia Edwards from Donnington, Telford.
