Riza back in squad for Town reserves

Tuesday 27th October 2009, 2:29PM GMT.

omer-rizaStriker Omer Riza will step up his comeback from injury when he leads the line for Shrewsbury Town in their reserve clash against Burton Albion tonight (7pm).

Former Arsenal apprentice Riza has been missing since turning his ankle in Shrewsbury’s 5-0 defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge back in August.

But he resumed training two weeks ago and will now get the chance to try and force his way back into manager Paul Simpson’s plans.

He will line up in a Town second string at the Prostar Stadium this evening that also includes goalkeeper Chris Neal, midfielders Jake Simpson and Joss Labadie, and striker Kris Bright.

Meanwhile, Simpson has warned Shrewsbury that they will not be able to take victory for granted when they face Blue Square South side Staines in the first round of the FA Cup a week on Saturday.

Simpson was pleased to have been drawn at home, but pointed to last season’s shock defeat at Blyth Spartans as evidence of what non-League teams can do in this competition.

“I’m delighted the draw has given us a home game,” he said. “But it won’t mean anything if we don’t do it right.

“That was shown last year when we certainly didn’t go about things in the right way and we got punished.”

  • Shrewsbury reserves’ line-up against Burton tonight: Chris Neal, Scott Keys, Steve Leslie, Will Richards, Harry Hooman, Connor Goldson, Jake Simpson, Joss Labadie, Omer Riza, Kris Bright, Andre Gray.
