It is not often during a stand-up comedy routine that the audience takes to the stage but that is exactly what happened during Adam Hills’ show.

It is not often during a stand-up comedy routine that the audience takes to the stage but that is exactly what happened during Adam Hills’ show.

As a gesture to everyone who had ventured out to watch the Australian comic instead of staying home to watch X Factor the audience was invited to take part in their own talent show.

For one night only four residents were taken up on stage to dance to Bon Jovi. Declaring them all winners the comedian offered to buy them a drink after the show.

It is Hills’ warmth that comes across during his latest tour.

While many comics score points off their audience, Hills is more interested in making sure everyone has a good time.

Reigniting the old Shrewsbury pronunciation debate proved a hit as did his uplifting tales of helping to present the Paralympics in China.

The theme of the show — Inflatable — is Hills’ theory about how some people uplift us while others leave us feeling a bit flat —it was definitely not the latter in the case of this show.

After the performance Hills announced he would be selling T-shirts to benefit a Shropshire charity.

An audience member selected Hope House Children’s Hospice as the charity of choice and everyone left the theatre feeling suitably inflated.
