A teenager from Leintwardine, near Ludlow, who went missing more than three weeks ago could have links with Dudley’s Muslim community, police said at a press conference this afternoon.
Concern is growing for 14-year-old Sarah Dunn who disappeared after an argument during a trip to Bridgnorth on September 28.
Sarah had no mobile phone or cash on her when she went missing and it is believed she may have made her way to the Dudley area, where she has relatives and friends.
West Mercia Police held a press conference at Brierley Hill Police Station today to step up the search.
Sarah’s mother, Christine, also urged anyone with information to come forward.
Appealing to her daughter, Mrs Dunn said: “Please get in touch with me to let me know that you are okay. Just give me a ring or make contact in whatever way you can.”
She added: “Just let us know that you are all right. That’s all I ask of you, Sarah.”
DI Jon Roberts said police were very concerned for Sarah’s welfare.
A police spokesman said earlier today: “It is believed Sarah is currently living in the Sandwell, Dudley or Smethwick areas and she has shown a strong interest in Islam.
“It is possible that she is attending meetings in or being accommodated within the Muslim community there.”
The spokesman continued: “Sarah is quite streetwise, but at the age of 14 she should not be out there on her own. It is just a question of trying to find her and putting things right.”
Sarah is described as white, 5ft 2ins tall, of slim build with dyed-black, medium-length hair.
She was last seen wearing white jeans, a white short-sleeved T-shirt with a thick black and white jacket with a dice pattern and black pumps.
Police want to hear from anyone who may know Sarah’s whereabouts and urge her to contact the police to confirm she is safe and well.
Anyone with information can call police on 0300 333 3000, quoting reference 79-N-280909.
