Village out of title final

Wednesday 21st October 2009, 10:34AM BST.

A Shropshire village has just missed out on going through to the national finals in this year’s Calor Village of the Year for England competition.

Villagers in Whittington, near Oswestry, have been waiting to hear if they had achieved success as either an overall regional winner or regional category winner for West England.

However, judges said today the village was to go no further in the competition.

Calor Village of the Year manager Holly Sims said: “Although not a regional winner, Whittington can be very proud of its achievements in representing Shropshire.”
