Victim of collision named by police

A man who was killed in a head-on smash near Ludlow was from Shropshire, police officers said today.
Christian Baker, 46, of Bucknell, near Craven Arms, died following the crash on the A4410 at Wigmore at 7.25pm on Friday.
Mr Baker was one of two men pronounced dead at the scene of the smash between a blue Nissan Almera and a blue Mercedes E300 which closed the road for several hours while police investigators worked at the scene.
The other man was named as Louis Mather, 18, from Herefordshire.
Inspector Gurjit Singh, of West Mercia Police, said: “The vehicles were travelling in opposite directions and collided.” Both drivers suffered multiple injuries.
Meanwhile, police today also named a man who died after a smash on the A442 between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster on Friday evening. Kelvin Stephens, 23, from Wolverley, Kidderminster, died at the scene of the crash involving a Vauxhall Zafira and a Honda Coupe at about 7pm.
Four people, including two motorcyclists, were taken to hospital after a spate of accidents.
A 26-year-old biker was airlifted to hospital after being in collision with a lorry on Saturday on the B4386 near Westbury, Shrewsbury.
A teenager came off his bike on the A489, near Wistanstow yesterday.
And last night two people were taken to hospital after the car they were in rolled over outside Worthen, near Shrewsbury.
