Four injured in spate of smashes

accident_signFour people, including two motorcyclists, were taken to hospital after a spate of accidents in Shropshire.

A 26-year-old biker was airlifted to hospital after being in collision with a lorry on Saturday just past Westbury, near Shrewsbury.

A teenager came off his bike on the A489, a mile and a half from the A49 turning in Wistanstow, yesterday afternoon.

And last night two people were taken to hospital after the car they were in rolled over outside Worthen, near Shrewsbury.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the 26-year-old motorcyclist suff- ered “particularly nasty” injuries including a fractured right leg following an incident on the B4386 at 2pm on Saturday.

He was airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital where medics were alerted to his arrival. The man was in a stable condition.

A 17-year-old was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital after coming off a bike on the A489 at about 1pm yesterday. He suffered an injury to his left wrist and was complaining of back pain after reportedly coming off his bike.

Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries following a collision involving one car on the B4499, outside Worthen at 10.30pm yesterday.

The pair were out of the vehicle before crews arrived and were mobilised using a neck collar and spinal board before being taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
