Vermiglio praises Bucks support
Thursday 15th October 2009, 12:55PM BST.
Midfielder Jamie Vermiglio today spoke of his sorrow at quitting AFC Telford United after completing a move to Blue Square North rivals Northwich Victoria.
The 27-year-old trained with the Vics last night, agreeing non-contract terms with manager Andy Preece, though he says a contract will be on the table once he has proved his fitness.
Vermiglio has spent two-and-a-half years at Telford, but that time has been dogged by injuries – and he even feared his career was over due to a broken back last season.
The club stuck by him through that time, but his progress was further
hampered by a hamstring injury this term.
Vermiglio linked up with Chorley last month to gain match fitness, but insists he had hoped to return to the New Bucks Head.
“I didn’t intend to leave Telford this season – I wanted to stay to the end,” he said.
“But a few recent misunderstandings have made me feel it’s best I move on and get myself a fresh challenge.”
Vermiglio was also quick to praise those supporters for their encouragement.
“The backing I’ve had from the supporters has been unbelievable,” he added. “It’s the best-supported club I’ve played at, and the best fans I’ve played in front of.”
l Former Telford United great Eddie Hogan has been unveiled as the latest player who will be inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame.
Hogan played 417 games for the club over two spells, scoring 50 goals, and was a member of the 1983 FA Trophy winning side.
He will be inducted along with the late Les Wilson and two more as-yet un-named players at the second annual Legends Evening on Wednesday, November 18.
Tickets, priced £16, are available by calling 01939-260099 or 07971-979261.

just to let you know, incase you don’t know, lee carter has slammed jamie vermiglio’s comment about misunderstandings forcing him to leave the club, i can tell you that it is true, there have been misunderstandings. Also he has no right to say that ‘jamie is setting fires around the club’. he isnt that person, he gives 110 percent all the time and travels 100 miles just to train at his own expense, and for what? to be slated by his chairman, he would give his life for telford, he played with a broken back, and thats not commitment? i dont care if you think im being biased because he’s my brother, but i’ll support every decision he makes.
