Sentencing for drug dealers in police snare

courtroom hammerFive men arrested during a major undercover police operation to catch Shrewsbury’s drug dealers have been sentenced, with three of them receiving prison terms for supplying officers.

The men, caught during the crackdown named Operation Clear, appeared separately for sentencing at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday.

Steven Peach, 26, of Sultan Road, Castlefields, Shrewsbury, was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison after admitting six counts of supplying cocaine.

Guy Wright, 27, of Severn Bank, Castlefields, was given a three-year prison term after admitting three counts of supplying cocaine.

Neil Smillie, 38, of New Park Road, Castlefields, was given a two-year prison sentence after admitting supplying cocaine and amphetamine.

Robert Johnson, 39, of Frankwell, was given a 12-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, after admitting two counts of being involved in the supply of cocaine and three counts of supplying cocaine.

He was also given a 12-month supervision order, a six-month overnight curfew and a nine-month drug rehabilitation order.

Brendan Webster, 36, of St Michael’s Street, Shrewsbury, was ordered to carry out 220 hours of unpaid work after admitting being concerned in the supply of amphetamine.
