The mother of a Shropshire boy who was hit in the face with a brick after a football match has vowed to continue her fight to bring the culprit to justice.

The mother of 14-year-old Ryan Asson, Donna Asson, said she was furious after the Crown Prosecution Service decided not to bring a suspect to trial because of a lack of evidence.

Ryan was on a coach taking AFC Telford United fans from Forest Green Rovers ground in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, when a brick was thrown last April.

It broke through the window and hit the teenager in the face, leaving him with permanent scars.

But today Mrs Asson, of Dawley Bank in Telford, said: “I’m absolutely appalled the CPS did not think there was enough evidence because there were no fingerprints on the brick.

“Why can’t they find the evidence? I don’t care what it takes, someone has to pay for what they did to my 14-year-old boy.

“It’s not just affecting him, it’s affecting everything about our house. This case will never ever close until they find someone.”

Mrs Asson added their family life had been destroyed since the attack.

She added: “Ryan’s 14 and it’s hard for him to deal with and now he does not want to go back to school, what can I do as a parent?

“He is not dealing with the scars and how can he deal with them, he’s only 14?

“It’s the scars in his head too. He used to play ice hockey for the academy and now he won’t do that anymore.

“The scarring to his nose and face does cause him problems in school but he does have great friends and he doesn’t let it bother him, but people can be so cruel.”

Gloucestershire Police told the family they were stepping up the inquiry.

And Mrs Asson said: “I have spoken to the police, who have been fantastic, and they said they will not rest until they have a prosecution in this case.”

Anyone with information can call Gloucestershire Police on 0845 0901234 quoting incident number 531 on April 9.
