Traffic survey hailed a success
Wednesday 14th October 2009, 10:34AM BST.
Council bosses in Telford today said an ongoing traffic survey in the town was causing minimal disruption as the third day of the census got under way.
Since Monday, drivers coming into Telford have been stopped to take part in a traffic survey being carried out by Telford & Wrekin Council.
Today the survey, expected to last a number of weeks, has seen drivers being stopped at the Ketley Brook Island.
Councillor Stephen Bentley, cabinet member for environment at Telford and Wrekin Council, said there has so far been little disruption to drivers and added the results would be used to update information and help plan and manage the transport system.
He said: “With assistance from police we have been able to manage the flow of vehicles through all the roadside interview sites to minimise delays.
“The surveys will be carried out during October and November at a number of roadside locations across Telford and also at car parks, bus stations and key bus stops.
“These will involve survey staff asking people a few questions about their journey. Traffic flows and volumes will also be monitored by automatic traffic counters and trained staff.”
