Simpson confident over strike force

Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Simpson is confident there is much more to come from his trio of attacking summer signings.
The Town chief swooped for Jake Robinson, Nathan Elder and Kris Bright during the close season to bolster his attacking options.
Bright and Elder have failed to hold down first team berths after managing just one goal between them and are having to settle for cameos from the substitutes bench at present.
And, despite Robinson emerging as the current strike partner for Dave Hibbert and scoring four times in blue-and-amber, Simpson is confident Town fans have yet to see the best of the former Brighton forward.
“Jake has scratched the surface a little bit but there is much more of a footballer to come out of him and Kris and Nathan both need a run of games,” said Simpson.
“Unfortunately, the way reserve games are and because of a lack of bodies, we haven’t had a continuous stream of games for them.
“But one of their opportunities might come very soon and it’s up to them to take it.”
Meanwhile, Simpson has revealed his search for reinforcements continue.
“I made a few enquiries on Monday morning but nothing has come from them,” he added.
“We will keep working to try and bring people in.
“We definitely need some more bodies in here and hopefully we can get someone in by the weekend if I think it’s going to improve us.”
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Chris Neal stepped up his comeback with an outing for the reserves last night in their Totesport League fixture against Sheffield Wednesday.
The game finished 1-1, Steve Leslie with a late equaliser after former Everton striker Francis Jeffers had put Wednesday in front.
And Neal came through the outing unscathed to raise hopes that he will be back to full fitness by the time current No 1 Steve Phillips’ loan from Bristol Rovers expires.
Neal has been out since the end of August, having suffered a hamstring injury.
He had been scheduled to return in the postponed Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie at Accrington Stanley last week.
