Olympic archer Alison Williamson was on target for a group of Shropshire students when she visited their school.
Alison, member of the Long Mynd Archers team, was at Hadley Learning Community in Telford to demonstrate her medal-winning skills to Year 10 BTec pupils.
Alison, who won at bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and narrowly missed out on a team medal with Great Britain at last year’s Games in Beijing, has represented her country at five Olympics since 1992.
She was at the school to demonstrate her skills and boost the pupils’ knowledge of the sport as part of their Btech studies.
The 55 youngsters involved in the course were able to try their hand at archery, while Alison demonstrated the talents that triumphed in the Olympics over the official Games’ distance of 70 metres.
Following the demonstrations, south Shropshire-based Alison staged a question and answer session for youngsters hopeful of following in her footsteps and representing Great Britain in future international competitions.
The archery star’s trip to the school was the latest in a succession of visits by elite sports personalities.
Olympic boxing medallist Richie Woodall, the English partially-sighted football team and the GB wheelchair basketball squad have all recently visited the centre to help students aiming for physical education qualifications.
