Wednesday 14th October 2009, 2:06PM BST.

Damage was caused to a Shropshire bridge today after it was struck by a large farm vehicle.

The road between Montford Bridge and the junction with the B5067 at Leaton Lodge was closed following the incident at Fitz Bridge, near Shrewsbury, which happened at about 8.15am.

A temporary signed diversion for traffic was in place.

Engineers from Shropshire Council’s contractors said they would be inspecting the bridge to assess the damage and decide on any action to be taken.
