Hornets' Stefan Hildred breaks through.
Telford Hornets made light work of Moseley Oak to move into the top half of Midlands 3 West (North) with a 32-3 victory.
The Hornets actually fell behind to a penalty in the first half, but it was all one-way traffic from then on.
Steff Hildred scored the first try and then kicked the conversion himself before Luke Stevens and Chris Parry also went over as Telford led 17-3 at the break.
Aaron Doighnie broke from a lineout for the fourth try of the game and, with Hildred in the sin bin, Ryan Evans then kicked a penalty.
Kiwi player-coach Travis McIntyre set up the fifth and final try with a great run, winger Adam Edwards touching down and Hildred – now back in the fray – kicking the conversion.
“It was a comfortable and professional performance,” said former skipper Dave Kerr. “A mistake in the defence had let them go ahead with an early penalty, but the rest of the game was all Telford really.”
Bishop’s Castle also sealed a pleasing home win, seeing off Handsworth 26-7 at Love Street.
They now have an identical record to Telford of two wins and two defeats from four, though their inferior points difference leaves them in the bottom half of the table.
