Police today said the victim heard two or three unknown voices shouting abuse at him.
He then became aware that three men were following him and feeling threatened he made his way into an alleyway to hide.
Chris Ammonds, of Telford Police, said: “The three men followed him into the alley and then assaulted him.
“During the assault the victim was punched and kicked repeatedly and having fallen to the floor during the attack he then received a number of blows while he lay on the floor.”
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment. Anyone with information should call police on 0300 3333000.
