How many minor county games has Mr Pridgeon seen over the last few years not many i think or he would have seen the many teenagers that have represented Shropshire in that time

I am not sure that was what pridge was aiming at tilts. He acctually made perfect sence and it was pretty much what most people have been saying for ages but it never got into print. pridge was more outlining the lack of players of quality and young age that have not been given a chance through the years because shropshire have employed too many outsiders and some of them were not as good as youngsters we have in shropshire.
He came across very well on the night and although i guess his views must be slightly rose tinted as it his crop he wants bringing through all i can do is agree with him. Shropshire needs a shake up.

Shimmo perhaps you could give me the stats of these players that where overlooked and suggest the right man in charge and where we get top quality pro on a limited budget

Fair points well made, i suppose its the chicken and egg situation, fill your team with “outsiders”, people who don’t play for County Clubs and do well.
Use local talent and struggle ?
There were some strange selections last season with one player being picked who couldn’t get even get in the Shifnal First Eleven and another who was the brother of another ” outside player “.
If you are going to use these guys then why not use some of the Pro’s at the County Clubs ? . Mas Hasnain has scored over 8000 runs for Whitchurch for instance, Rajat Bhatia at Newport who would eat Minor Counties cricket.
Do the rules allow ?.

Shropshire lad you mention overseas players who in my opinion are a bigger hindrance to these young players development than any shropshire selector. The emerging youngsters need to be performing well for their clubs if they are to come to the attention of selectors not watching their overseas pro doing the bulk of the batting and bowling

Totally agree with Shimmo the Shropshire set up has needed a shake up for a long time! To many people who are out of touch with the modern game!
I know its not easy running any team as you cant please all of the people all of the time however its time a complte change of direction and in my opinion there is only one person with the drive and expirence to take things forward and thats Bryan Jones !! he is an out and out winner with all the right credentials. So its time for those people to step a side for the better good of Shropshire cricket.

Shropshire cricket needs a shake up its become abit of a shambles, some of the selections for the full side have been rather bizare, shropshire u21s also, players who are perfroming well in the likes of wellington, shifnal and shrewsbury’s first teams cant get a game yet some lads in the shropshire league can- as for overseas players I think they bring extra quality and are good for the game

Minor Counties cricket has lost its way, mainly stemming from the decision to take away the 1st class match in the C & G.
I personally think that only players who play IN Shropshire should be eligible for selection,( with 1 decent paid professional) after all it is supposed to be a representative side from the best amateur talent in the county. Thats what minor counties is supposed to be. Ive never understood why the likes of Ted Baylis and Atique Rehman have been picked having no affilation to the county. Who is going to want to go and watch those players?
Some of the selections in recent times have been absurd (Bruce Thomason averaging 9 in 2 seasons for Shifnal, batting at 3 while the captain hides at no.7), which only give credence to those who say Minor Counties Cricket is inferior to Birmingham Prem.
Chris Cadman is currently unattached to a club and he is a proven winner. I think its time to let him off the leash and give him full control of team matters, with someone like Bryan Jones alongside him as Coach. Chris would galvanise team spirit and make playing for Shropshire a worthwile honour again, rather than just the ‘who fancies a trip to Devon on Sunday and a couple of nights on the lash’ approach of recent times.
I think its also time for a new captain, Ed Foster is the obvious candidate if he wanted it. If not I would go cap in hand to Adam Byram and get him back in the fold..

How about Terry O’Conner as manager?perhaps he would be able to persuade Adam Bryam to return to the county fold

Pikemaster agree with a lot of what you say but the first two you mention where overseeing the relegation of Shifnal and how you can consider someone who has basically refused to represent his county for the last few years is beyond me
