It’s that time of year again, with a certain crispness in the air each morning and the trees gradually changing in colour from green to yellow, red and brown.
Shropshire Star photographers have been capturing the county at its colourful autumn best, with snapshots of rural scenes showing how the season is taking hold.
And weather experts say the coming week is likely to bring more “autumnal” weather meaning the season is in full flow.
Shropshire Star weatherman John Warner said: “We’ve got some rain coming for a time this weekend but next week looks good, there should be light winds, a little bit of ground frost, some fog patches and it’ll be mostly dry and fairly autumnal, which is pretty much the way it’s been since the beginning of September.
“We could have done with more like it in the summer.”
Across the county trees have been shedding their leaves, autumnal flowers have been blooming and conkers have been falling to the ground.
Colourful scenes have been captured in Shipton, Munslow and Whitcliffe Common, while similar scenes are taking place throughout the rest of the county.
With a riot of autumn colours on show across the county people have been enjoying the sound of dead leaves beneath their feet as they walk through woodland, while conker competitions have been taking place across the county.
Apple-themed events have been taking place as well throughout the country – including an apple fair at Attingham Park near Shrewsbury last weekend which proved a massive success.
Crowds enjoyed a chance to see the many varieties of apples at the National Trust property.
