Factory worker pushed in raid
Friday 9th October 2009, 12:52PM BST.
Thieves pushed a worker to the ground during a raid on a Telford company before fleeing with £4,000 worth of metal.
The theft happened at a specialist metals company at Hortonwood yesterday morning. The worker was left shaken.
Police today said the thieves pulled up near the unnamed company in a white Ford Transit van and while one man waited with the engine running, two other men got out and started to load baskets of rolled metal into the van.
A male member of staff approached the men and asked them what they were doing when one of them then pushed the staff member causing him to fall to the ground.
Before he could get back to his feet the two men ran back to the van and the driver then sped off.
A police spokesman said: “Thankfully the staff member was not injured in this incident but he was quite shaken.
“He is yet to give a detailed description of the men involved in this theft but has stated that all three men he saw were wearing dark blue sweatshirts.
“In total the men are believed to have made off with six baskets of metal and the value of this metal could be as much as £4000.”
The incident happened sometime between 11:35am and 11:55am yesterday and anyone with information should contact police in Telford on 0300 3333000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
