Disappointment for Drayton

Wednesday 7th October 2009, 2:00PM BST.

Market Drayton Town chief Simon LineFrustration was the buzz word for Market Drayton Town as their hopes of FA Trophy progress were ended by the rain.

Their qualifying round tie at Bamber Bridge last night was postponed at 4.30pm because of a waterlogged pitch, causing a logistical headache for the Greenfields men.

“It was a bit of a mess because we had one player (Gary Anslow) at Bamber Bridge, others were on their way to that ground and the other lads were within a minute of the meeting point for the coach,” said boss Simon Line.

Drayton officials are now hoping common sense prevails with the re-arranged date. “They are saying at the moment that we have to play the game next Tuesday, but it’s very difficult for players to keep getting the time off work in midweek,” added Line.
