The calendar, which includes wives of personnel of all ranks posing nude, aims to raise money for two charities which help people serving in the armed forces Combat Stress and Help For Heroes.

The idea for the Garrison Girls calendar first saw the light of day last year.

Internationally renowned photographer Mick Payton, who took the photos for this year’s calendar, also produced a series of prints for the 2010 edition.

The original calendar raised several thousand pounds for the charities, with money still coming in and the total to be announced soon.

Organisers say they hope that 2010 will be even more successful.

Sarah Griffiths, 33, from Heath Farm, in Shrewsbury, is set to appear in this year¹s calendar with a flag of St George draped across her body.

Her husband Dave, 45, served in the Navy but now works as a wood machinist.

Mrs Griffiths, who works in Next, said she had been talking to a friend about whether she would ever pose nude when she was sent a link to a Facebook page asking for people to get involved.

She said various other family members had served in the Navy so she wanted to represent them because she felt they were often overlooked by people focusing on the Army and RAF.

“My husband was a bit surprised when I said I was going to be photographed nude by people I’d met on Facebook.

“When my friend sent me the link she said ‘would you be interested?’ and I said I’d love to do it for a good cause,” she said.

Combat Stress specialises in the care of British veterans who have been profoundly traumatised by harrowing experiences during their career and who are suffering from poor mental health as a result.

Help for Heroes was launched in October 2007 to help members of the armed forces who have been injured in the course of serving their country.
