Labadie told: Cut out the yellows

Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Simpson has urged on-loan midfielder Joss Labadie to learn the lessons of the first red card of his professional career.
Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Morecambe proved a bitter sweet afternoon for the 19-year-old who notched his fifth goal of the season with a sublime free-kick from 25 yards, but was dismissed after half-time for two quickfire bookings.
The second caution came following a trip on former Telford United midfielder Craig Stanley and means Labadie, who is on loan from West Bromwich Albion, will miss tomorrow’s trip to Accrington Stanley in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
“The goal was a fantastic strike,” said Simpson, who was happy his side’s unbeaten record was extended to five games
“You can’t teach people that sort of thing – it’s just pure ability.
“Unfortunately we also saw the young, inexperienced Joss Labadie who allowed himself to be sent off for a petulant, stupid second yellow card.:
“The referee had to do it. It was a silly challenge and there was no need to do it.
“It comes because he wasn’t on his toes from the first ball into him, he mis-controlled, let their player get ahead, choose to trip him up and he gets sent off.
“I have said to him unfortunately it costs you – it costs you money, it costs you games.
“That is part of him growing up and their were other players out there on Saturday who learned a helluva lot.”
Meanwhile, experienced midfielder Paul Murray hailed a hard-earned point at Morecambe.
“We have come away to a tough place in horrible conditions and if we look back at the end of the season, that will go down as a good point,” he said.
“We are disappointed we haven’t won the game where as last season, we may have come here and said a draw is a fantastic result for us.
“That is how much things have changed and we are on a high.
“We are all committed to one cause which is doing well and trying to get promotion and we are showing a bit of character which is good to see.”
