Princess to tour county

Saturday 3rd October 2009, 11:30AM BST.

The Princess Royal will be in Shropshire in December to officially unveil new developments in the county.

She will visit Harper Adams University College at Edgmond, near Newport, to open the £3 million West Midlands Regional Food Academy.

The princess will also visit Norbroom Park in Newport to unveil its new £180,000 skate park.

She will also open a £1.8 million extension to Concord College in Acton Burnell, near Shrewsbury, and the Citizens Advice Bureau’s new office at Fletcher House in College Hill, Shrewsbury.

New Harper Adams principal Dr David Llewellyn said the college was looking forward to the visit.

Princess Anne will be at the skate park after young people invited the Queen to officially open it but she was unable to come.

Marc Simpson, of Newport SK8 and Ride committee, said: “I am ecstatic, absolutely delighted.”

Concord College principal Neil Hawkins said the visit, during its 60th anniversary year, was an honour.
