Rivals to give it best shot

Friday 2nd October 2009, 10:40AM BST.

Skipper John Breeze will tell Childs Ercall to try and enjoy a “cup final” occasion in tonight’s Furrows Shropshire Premier Bowls League play-off with Burway.

The 14th place in next season’s Premier line-up is at stake at Meole Brae (7pm), with Ercall looking to retain their status and Burway eager for promotion.

“It’s probably the biggest game of the season next to the county cup final,” stressed Breeze.

“There will be a lot of people there and we have to treat it as a cup final.

“You can’t go into a game like this thinking if you lose, that’s it. You’ve got to enjoy the occasion and give it your best shot.”

Childs Ercall can call upon Woodfield duo Steve Dicken and Nick Newey, having received confirmation from league secretary Mark Burroughs that both have played the required six league games this season.

Burway are on cloud nine after winning the Ludlow and Tanners Shropshire league and then storming through the pre play-offs with sound wins over Prees and Hadley USC.

Their one problem is whether to play Shane Mulliner or recall Chris Dovey, who missed Wednesday’s win over Hadley due to a family illness.
