Youth choir holding county workshops

Thursday 1st October 2009, 3:00PM BST.

Organisers of the new Shropshire Youth Choir will be holding two workshops at Meole Brace School, Longden Road, Shrewsbury over the next few weeks for anyone interested in joining the choir.

Both workshops will start at 6.30pm on the 7th and 14th October and last for about an hour and a half.

Anyone aged between 13 -18 is welcome to come along to either or both sessions to find out what the choir is all about. There is a small fee of just £2.00 per session to cover costs and parents are welcome to stay for the duration of the workshop.

Robert Harper from SYC said: “We’ve had lots of interest in the choir and the workshops will be the first time we have been able to get together as a group.”

The evening will comprise a brief introduction and vocal warm up before those attending get the chance to sing some pop classics – Shine by Take That and Beautiful by Christina Aguilera.

Robert added: “We will have a broad repertoire of songs but as a youth choir we thought it was particularly important to start with songs that potential choir members are already familiar with.

“We have ambitious plans for the choir and will be looking to gain feedback from members as to the kind of songs they want to perform going forward.”

Further details about the choir can be found on Twitter and Facebook as well as the new website www.ShropshireYouthChoir.co.uk

An email address is also available for enquiries of requests to join - contact info@shropshireyouthchoir.co.uk or call Robert on 07542 954567.
