Taste of water is set to be sampled
Wednesday 30th September 2009, 10:57AM BST.
Severn Trent bosses have offered to visit properties in Oswestry to taste the water for themselves following complaints from customers over its quality.
It follows the company’s switching of the area’s water supply from the Welsh hills to the River Severn some years ago, which sparked outrage in Oswestry.
Today Severn Trent Water has revealed plans to visit the town to listen to views on water quality by holding two drop-in sessions in the Guildhall, Oswestry, on October 6 and 7.
David Essex, Severn Trent’s water strategy manager, will spend time listening to residents’ views .
Mr Essex said: “I am keen to taste water at local properties, particularly where customers feel this would help to get their views across.”
David Preston, Oswestry town clerk, said: “The town council has taken the lead on water quality issues on the basis of our long standing concerns and local representations. We urge residents to come forward and take this opportunity to talk to Severn Trent.”
