Bus CCTV viewed in sex attack inquiries
Wednesday 30th September 2009, 10:58AM BST.
Police will trawl through CCTV images from buses which may have passed the scene of a suspected sex attack on a 15-year-old girl in Telford.
The teenager has told officers she was attacked behind a bus stop on a busy road close to the allotments by Randlay House Farm, Telford, on Monday evening between 4.45pm and 5.40pm.
The scene is just over a mile away from where a woman in her 20s was raped near the footbridge on the A442 Randlay interchange last month.
Officers have confirmed they are looking at possible links between the incidents.
Chris Ammonds, of Telford police, said: “Although it is not a built-up area, it is likely there was a lot of traffic going along the road at that time.”
He said officers would contact bus companies to inspect CCTV tapes from the number 22 and 33 service buses that may have passed the bus stop towards Telford town centre.
“We want any motorists who may have seen anything to contact us,” he added.
“The investigation is still at an early stage but it is ongoing.
“If anyone has any information they should contact police on 0300 3333000.”
Police investigating last month’s rape have offered a £10,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the attacker.
