Lift rescue for woman

Tuesday 29th September 2009, 11:29AM BST.

An elderly Shropshire woman was rescued by firefighters after she became stuck in a lift.

The woman, who has not been named, was trapped for about an hour at St John’s Park sheltered housing in Whitchurch yesterday at about 10.46am.

She alerted a warden to her plight by banging on the side of the lift as it had no alarm, firefighters said.

Watch manager Mike Beach said crews wound the lift up to the next floor where she got out after they opened the door. She was unharmed.
