Police in Telford today launched an investigation after a 15-year-old girl said that she had been sexually assaulted.
The attack in Randlay happened just over a mile from where a woman was raped last month.
The woman in her 20s was assaulted near the footbridge on the Randlay interchange of the A442.
Officers today confirmed they were looking at possible links between the incidents.
The girl claims the attack occurred behind a bus stop close to the allotments by Randlay Farm House between 4.45pm and 5.40pm yesterday.
The bus stop was taped off today as police and forensic officers examined the scene.
Chris Ammonds, from Telford police, said: “We can confirm that we have launched an investigation into this incident but I would like to stress that the investigation is at a very early stage.”
He added: “I would like to assure local people that we are taking the reports extremely seriously. It goes without saying that we will look at any possible links to other incidents that have occurred in recent times.”
He went on: “Anyone who believes they saw anything suspicious close to the allotments in Randlay last night that may by useful to our investigation is asked to call CID in Telford on 0300 3333000.”
People living in the area said they were unaware of any attack until police began making house-to-house inquiries.
Police investigating last month’s rape have offered a £10,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the attacker. Two men have been arrested as part of the inquiry but so far no-one has been charged.
