Members of a mountain rescue team that covers Powys ditched their mountain gear and stripped off for Gok Wan’s How To Look Good Naked.

The Channel 4 stylist surprised the group after they applied to be part of his new series, which starts tomorrow.

The North East Wales Search and Rescue (Newsar) team covers the areas of Powys, Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighsire, Conwy as well as parts of Wirral and Cheshire.

Members agreed to strip for a photo shoot to “show the UK how to celebrate body confidence”.

But, being safety aware, they kept their sensible footwear on.

Team member Richard Dobson said: “Once you got over the initial fact of ‘I’m naked on the side of the mountain’ you forget about it completely and concentrate on trying to get the pose right and making sure everything is standing correct!”

Associate member of the team Linsey Youngs said she was pleased to have taken part in the new series. She said: “I was a bit nervous at the point when you’re taking your robe off but once I’d done that it was liberating.”

How To Look Good Naked starts tomorrow at 8pm on Channel 4.

Gok Wan said: “It doesn’t matter what their shape and size, everybody in the country should be confident with their bodies, I am very, very proud indeed of these guys.

“They were confident, strong and honest.”
