Police hunt bank gang

Saturday 26th September 2009, 10:48AM BST.

Police were today continuing their hunt for a gang which used a mini digger to drag a cash machine out of the wall of a Shropshire bank in a daring night-time raid.

Thieves removed the cashpoint from the wall of the Royal Bank of Scotland at Syer House, near Stafford Park 1, Telford, and escaped with the machine and an unknown amount of cash early on Thursday morning.

The gang drove up to the bank in a light-coloured BMW and a flatbed lorry containing the digger.

Witnesses to the raid, between 1.40am and 2am, can call 0300 3333000.
