By now, many people will hopefully have been encouraged to get their hands dirty by taking part in environmental volunteering projects in their local community.

BTCV, the UK’s leading green volunteering charity, is encouraging people to go a step further, making a difference to some of the most beautiful locations in the UK by booking onto a conservation holiday.

BTCV conservation holidays are all about improving the environment and making a positive contribution to people and places visited.

They offer an experience of a lifetime where volunteers get the opportunity to meet people they wouldn’t normally meet and do things they didn’t think they could do.

Although this holiday will involve doing some physical work each day, in return, the stress and routine of normal everyday life will be washed away, replaced by beautiful scenery, a sense of achievement and many new friends.

Holidaymakers will live, laugh and cook together and in the evenings get free time to relax, explore the locality and socialise.

Responsible

Janet Ford, BTCV senior corporate partnerships manager says: “These holidays are a fun way of improving the environment while being a responsible tourist.

“Conservation holidays are also great for the planet, as well as the purse.”

BTCV is part of car manufacturer Honda UK’s Everyone Wants To Be Good campaign, to encourage volunteering on community environmental projects alongside promoting the environmental benefits of its Insight hybrid car.

Honda has recently teamed up with BCTV to promote environmental activities happening near you.

The company has created www.do-it.org.uk as part of the launch activity for its new Honda Insight hybrid car – one of the world’s most affordable hybrids.

Using the slogan ‘everyone wants to be good’ in its campaign, a sentiment Honda wholeheartedly believes in, the company is making it easier for people to volunteer their time through do-it.org.uk.

For every test drive booked for the new Honda Hybrid online with JT Hughes of Oswestry, Shrewsbury, Telford or Newtown, Honda will contribute £5 towards BTCV.

Details of volunteering opportunities can also be found on www.expressandstar.com/honda-do-it, so to become a ‘doer’ and find opportunities in thelocal area or share your stories, log on or call BTCVdirect on its information line 01302 388 883.
