Creation, the new film about the life of Charles Darwin, is to get a gala regional premiere  tonight in the town of his birth.

The film, starring real-life couple Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connolly as Darwin and his wife Emma, was written by Darwin’s great, great grandson Randal Keynes.

It looks at Darwin’s life after his voyage to the Galapagos Islands, his theory of evolution and the conflict that arose between him and his devoutly religious wife.

Creation is due to go on release tomorrow, but will be shown at the Old Market Hall in Shrewsbury from tonight until October 8. For details click here.

This year marks 150 years since Darwin’s book On the Origin of Species was published and 200 years since his birth at The Mount, Shrewsbury.
