Boy, 15, held over alleged park sex attack

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested over an alleged sex attack on a teenage girl in Shrewsbury’s Quarry in broad daylight.

The alleged attack happened in the park in the town centre on Sunday afternoon.

A police investigation has now been launched into the incident after it was reported to officers and the boy has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Richard Ewels, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, today confirmed that an incident had happened in the Quarry.

He said the incident was alleged to have happened at about 2.30pm on Sunday.

Mr Ewels said: “A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of carrying out a sexual assault on a teenage girl in Shrewsbury on Sunday.

“He has been released on bail pending further inquiries.”

Police today confirmed the girl who was allegedly attacked was a teenager, but said they would not disclose her precise age.
