The A458 incident took place a mile outside Bridgnorth when a bike and car were involved in a collision.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said off-duty first responders and a nurse attempted to resuscitate the motorcyclist as they waited for medical help to arrive.

The motorcyclist was airlifted by to the specialist unit at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham, but despite repeated attempts to resuscitate him aboard the helicopter, he was confirmed dead on arrival at hospital, a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed.

The route was blocked for several hours as fire crews cleared debris from the road.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the A539 crash between Hanmer and Pedley, near Wrexham, yesterday afternoon.

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: “Emergency services established that the incident involved a single motorcycle. The rider, a 26-year-old male, was fatally injured.
