Police raise concerns on rowdy pub
Monday 21st September 2009, 9:36AM BST.
Police have raised concerns about trouble allegedly relating to a pub in Ludlow.
Officers said they had taken five calls about The Compasses in Corve Street in the last month. They said the incidents related to assaults or public order offences.
Speaking at a meeting last week, Ludlow’s Mayor Martin Taylor-Smith said he had received concerns from residents.
Constable Tony Sewell said police were keeping an eye on the pub.
Jacqueline Telfer, licensee for The Compasses, said she was aware of an assault near the pub earlier this month, but said it had happened after customers had left the pub and this was the only problem she had known of in the seven weeks she has been there.
She said: “Obviously people are concerned, but I can’t really see that it’s a big problem.”
