Lincoln 0 Shrewsbury 2 — The blogger’s view

Jake Simpson of Shrewsbury Town and Scott Kerr of Lincoln City
Town moved into the play-off positions with an impressive 2-0 away victory against mangerless Lincoln, writes Shrewsbury Town blogger James Pugh.
For a team which struggled to win away last season (three league wins) Town grabbed their second of this campaign with a very disciplined performance.
Having stuck with the same side in consecutive matches, Simpson has found the secret of consistency, and with players slowly retuning from injury Town can really kick on with their promotion challenge.
It’s easy to get carried away with consecutive wins, especially as Lincoln are a side on the slide with no current manager, but Town still had to go out there and do the job. And they certainly did – taking their chances, defending well and working their socks off.
Despite the win being an excellent team performance, the men that really stood out for me were Murray, Robinson and the goal-machine Hibbert. Despite Hibbert hitting the headlines after every game I have been really impressed with Robinson and just hope he can add more goals to his strong performances.
Simpson has a lot to be pleased about at the moment, and fans have got to be happy with some of Town’s attacking play, which is some of the best I have seen for a long while.
Our problem up until the last couple of games has been keeping clean sheets, but the defence has become more organised and it has helped having a reliable and consistent goalkeeper like Phillips between the posts.
Next up for Town are to very winnable games against Northampton and Cheltenham. If the players can stay injury and suspension-free and Simpson continues to stick with the same side that is playing so well at the moment, they can continue to push on up the table.
On a separate note – it’s very satisfying to see moneybags Notts County below Town in the table. Some may call it jealousy, but I am not a supporter of clubs thinking they can buy titles.

A good performance from town especially away from home.
Lets hope Hibbo keeps bagging in the goals and with Robinson up front I think we will do well.
A little mention for Jake Simpson who is showing what he can do and I can only see him getting better.
Another positive was Kris Bright who got into good positions and will be a good assest once that first goes in.
What about Nathan Elder?, he seems to be slipping down the pecking order.
