Christie facing sideline spell

Monday 21st September 2009, 12:26PM BST.

Iyseden ChristieNew AFC Telford signing Iyseden Christie is facing up to three weeks on the sidelines after he limped out of the 1-1 draw with Eastwood Town.

Christie was substituted just before the break on Saturday after picking up a hamstring injury.

And Bucks boss Rob Smith confirmed the ex-Mansfield Town frontman will be assessed in the next few days.

He said: “He’s done his hamstring and so he’ll be out for somewhere between two and three weeks but we’re not sure. He’ll definitely miss the Pegasus game (in the FA Cup) on Saturday.

“We won’t be bringing anyone else in because we’ve got the players who can come in to the side.”

Christie, who was playing only his second game in a Telford shirt, had earlier wasted the visitors’ best chance of the first half when he blazed over from six yards.

And the injury will come as a blow to the 32-year-old forward who is still searching for full match fitness after only joining the Bucks 10 days ago.

Telford have found goals had to come by this term with Danny Carey-Bertram, not even in the squad on Saturday, yet to find the net, and Andy Brown having spent time on the treatment table with a rib injury.

But alongside Christie, Smith has added to his squad with the arrival of Tamworth pair Stuart Nicholson and Gavin Hurren.

And the Bucks boss said he was happy with the way his side is shaping up ahead of next weekend’s FA Cup second qualifying round clash with Herefordshire side Pegasus.

Smith added: “The squad’s strong, that’s the main thing, but we might freshen it up for next week.

“We’ve got three players who didn’t even get a shirt Saturday so they’ll come into the squad for next week.

“We can enjoy the week a bit more than we can after a defeat and take it on from there.”
