Simpson banking on two wins

Manager Paul Simpson has urged Shrewsbury Town to ignore Lincoln’s managerial uncertainty and grab successive wins for the first time this season at Sincil Bank tomorrow.
Caretaker boss Simon Clark will take charge of the Imps for the third time since the departure of former boss Peter Jackson, knowing a victory would enhance his chances of landing the full-time role.
But Simpson is anxious for his side to build on last week’s 2-0 victory against Crewe and push further up the table.
“When we got the victory against Accrington, we had the chances of getting back to back wins and we were disappointed that didn’t happen against Bradford,” he said.
“We have another chance to grasp it tomorrow. We know it will be a tough test, it always is at Lincoln.
“They obviously felt they should have been doing better because Peter Jackson has left, and it’s always a strange one when a caretaker’s in charge.
“You sit there not wanting them to get a new manager before tomorrow because it would put an extra spring in their step.
“But you know that there is a caretaker manager who will be really firing up his players because he wants the results to help his case for the job.
“But it’s about what we do. If we go about our jobs properly and play to the levels that we can, I’m sure we have enough to get another big result on the road like we did at Acrington.”
Simpson’s hopes of naming an unchanged team rest on on-loan midfielder Joss Labadie, who scored last week, overcoming a minor injury scare to his foot.
Winger Lewis Neal comes into the reckoning after recovering from the minor groin problem which ruled him out last week, but midfielder Craig Disley will still not be considered despite training for the first time following a knee problem yesterday.
