Callum’s set for his Waterloo

Tuesday 15th September 2009, 1:22PM BST.

callum-wraightAll England winner Callum Wraight is conquering his dislike for the Blackpool green that is the home of bowls – by reaching today’s last 16 of the Autumn Waterloo.

The Castlefields star beat Cliff Massey (Aintree) 21-13 in the last 64 on Saturday and got even better to see off Damian Morrison of Warrington to 11 in the last 32 yesterday afternoon.

Wraight was taking on Harvey Birch of Wigan today with a place in last eight for finals day tomorrow at stake.

Shropshire’s other qualifier in the last 64 in round four on on Saturday, Chris Ball of St Georges, suffered an agonising 21-20 defeat against Greater Manchester ace Gary Ellis.
